Fraud Specialist Lawyer: "Jeon Cheong-jo Employed 13 Fraud Strategies"
As the number of people claiming to have been victimized by Jeon Cheong-jo, who has been carrying out fraudulent activities while posing as a third-generation chaebol heir, has increased to 20, with damages amounting to 2.6 billion KRW, lawyer Lim Chae-won, a 'fraud specialist' with 33 years of experience as a prosecutor, analyzed that "Jeon employed 13 different fraud strategies," using more diverse tactics than ordinary con artists.
On the 6th, on CBS's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show,' Lawyer Lim said, "Con artists usually have only one or two methods they use throughout their lives, but here (Jeon) talked about chaebols, which are difficult for ordinary people to approach, and used overwhelming volume tactics. At first, people might have been somewhat suspicious, but they had no choice but to fall for whatever he did," he explained.
Jeon was known as the remarriage partner of fencing national representative Nam Hyun-hee, but controversy arose as suspicions emerged that he changed his identity while carrying out fraudulent activities. So far, the number of victims related to Jeon's fraud is estimated to be 20, with damages reaching 2.6 billion KRW.
Lawyer Lim said, "It's not that he used all 13 patterns separately; they were mixed together," adding, "The first is being so considerate that it makes you feel sorry. He even bought luxury imported cars and let them stay at places costing about 12 million KRW per night with designer bags. So at first, people might have thought it was strange, but because of the overwhelming volume tactics to the point where they couldn't judge properly, they had no choice but to fall for it."
It was also pointed out that Jeon's approach during his first meeting with Nam, claiming he was going to have a fencing match with Elon Musk, was part of psychological warfare. Lawyer Lim explained, "He said, 'I'm going to have a match soon with someone who is almost at a professional level in fencing (Elon Musk), and I want to learn from you to definitely win.' He said, 'You are the best,' and when a much younger person comes asking for help like this, it naturally makes you want to help."

Nam was also analyzed to have been used as a 'host' by Jeon. Lawyer Lim said, "Nearly 1 billion KRW was invested in Nam, but it was like bait to carry out a bigger fraud," adding, "For example, through Nam's introduction, he talked about investing 3 billion KRW in the Korea Fencing Federation. If this had continued as is, it seems he would have used this as a basis to carry out an even bigger fraud."
