Ulsan to Continue Operating 'Electric Shared Bicycles'... Extension Agreement with Kakao Mobility
Electric shared bicycles will continue to operate in Ulsan.
The Ulsan City government and Kakao Mobility Corp. have extended the period of the "Electric Shared Bicycle Operation Business Agreement," which was signed in November 2019 to reduce environmental pollution and traffic congestion, and decided to continue its operation.
According to the agreement, the number of electric shared bicycles in operation is 1,000, and the usage fee is 500 KRW for unlocking the lock and 100 KRW per minute.
Ulsan City plans to cooperate in the use of a certain portion of bicycle parking facilities installed by the public sector and promote guidance to activate the use of electric shared bicycles.
Kakao Mobility Corp. is responsible for tasks such as deploying electric bicycles, building systems necessary for service operation and management, staffing for bicycle management, maintenance, and redistribution, operating a customer service center to handle complaints, developing and operating accident and property insurance products that users are required to subscribe to, and providing guidance and continuous improvement measures to prevent safety accidents.
It has been reported that electric shared bicycles have been used more than 2 million times from November 2019 to the end of September this year.
The current service operation areas are the central regions of Jung-gu, Nam-gu, Dong-gu, Buk-gu, and some areas of Ulju-gun, with 1,000 bicycles in operation.
Kakao Mobility Corp. is subscribed to insurance that covers up to 300 million KRW in the event of an accident when using electric shared bicycles.
