Barge Fire at Jinhae Sokcheon Port... No Casualties Reported
Changwon Coast Guard is spraying extinguishing agent on a fire on a barge.

A fire broke out on a barge located offshore near Sokcheon Port in Jinhae-gu, Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam.
According to the Changwon Coast Guard, a report was received on the 3rd at around 4:44 PM stating that flames were seen on a barge near the Sokcheon Port cruise ship dock.
Upon receiving the report, the Changwon Coast Guard dispatched patrol vessels, the Jinhae Police Substation, and the Changwon Rescue Team, and also arranged for two fishing boats.
Upon arrival at the scene, the Changwon Coast Guard and the crew of the fishing boats used fire hoses to extinguish the fire on the barge.
Together with firefighters from the Changwon Fire Headquarters, the remaining flames were fully extinguished by around 4:52 PM.
There were no casualties as no one was on board the barge at the time of the fire.
The Coast Guard and fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire based on the statements of the reporter and others.

A Changwon Coast Guard official said, “Thanks to the quick fire suppression, we were able to protect the public’s property,” and added, “If you witness a fire, please report it promptly.”
