This agreement was made to seek improvement measures for the acute stroke management system in the Pohang region and to establish an effective emergency transport system strategy based on digital healthcare. Through this agreement, close exchanges and cooperation among participating organizations such as local fire stations, base hospitals, and administrative/support institutions will be fostered to enable rapid response to stroke patients and to create a region-led pioneering demonstration model.
In particular, by proactively commercializing digital healthcare technology based on telemedicine, the plan is to spread biohealth technology and improve the poor regional medical conditions. This is also expected to be linked and utilized in the future with Pohang City’s key initiatives, such as the "POSTECH Research-Oriented Medical School" and the "Smart Hospital."
Professor Kang Daehee, director of the Seoul National University College of Medicine Regional Medical Innovation Center and biohealth policy advisor for Gyeongbuk Province and Pohang City, who hosted the event, said, "Using digital medical technology, we can open a new horizon for customized health management for local residents and raise awareness of the need to foster the biohealth industry for regional medical development."
Mayor Lee Kangdeok stated, "I hope this project will serve as an opportunity to recognize the importance of securing medical resources in Pohang City and reaffirm the necessity of establishing the POSTECH research-oriented medical school. The city will also actively support this."
