The symposium will be attended by Lee Jong-ho, Minister of Science and ICT, Sirag Farik, Secretary General of the US White House National Space Council, and Michael C. Morgan, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Environmental Observation and Prediction at the US Department of Commerce.
From the US, 20 companies including Axiom Space and Rocket Lab will participate, while 31 companies from Korea, including Hanwha Aerospace and LIG Nex1, will attend to explore various exchanges.
Participating companies will discuss mutual participation of Korean and US space companies in both countries' space programs, government support measures, strengthening supply chains in the space sector, utilization of low Earth orbit, and lunar exploration cooperation.
The two countries plan to adopt the results of the symposium discussions as a joint statement. If the joint statement is finalized, it is expected that opportunities for Korean companies to participate in US space development will also expand.
Lee Jun-won, Executive Director of Hanwha Aerospace, said, "We hope that through this opportunity, cooperation will open the way to export parts to US launch vehicle or satellite companies or engage in technological cooperation."
