Gwangyang City Holds Ceremony to Commemorate Entrepreneurs' Day
Awards for Outstanding Companies, Thematic Presentations, etc.
The Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jeonnam (Chairman Baekgu Lee) announced that on the 3rd, it held the 2nd Gwangyang City Entrepreneurs' Day ceremony at the Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority International Conference Hall, attended by about 200 people including Gwangyang Mayor Jeong Inhwa, National Assembly member Seo Dong-yong, Gwangyang City Council Chairman Seo Young-bae, POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks Director Lee Jin-su, representatives of related organizations and member companies, civil society group officials, and journalists.
The event began with a pre-ceremony performance by the Gwangyang City Boys and Girls Choir, followed by the national anthem, a commemorative video screening, congratulatory speeches, awards for outstanding entrepreneurs and presentation of appreciation plaques, a keynote presentation titled "The Future of Gwangyang, Asking Entrepreneurs," a performance for the selection of the Opportunity Development Special Zone, closing remarks, and a commemorative photo session.
The awards included the Gwangyang City CEO Award jointly received by Kim Myunghoon, CEO of Gwangyang Co., Ltd., and Kim Okja, CEO of Yuwon Industrial Technology Co., Ltd.; the Best Worker Award to Manager Kim Jaegun of Gwangyang Steelworks; and the Industrial Peace Award to Chairman Lim Seonggeun of Muchang Co., Ltd.
The National Assembly Member Outstanding Entrepreneur Award was given to CEO Yang Dongil of Dongju Construction Co., Ltd.; appreciation plaques from the Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority were awarded to CEO Hwang Taesik of Daeyoung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd.; and from the Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority to CEO Yeom Kiun of Taewoong Global Co., Ltd. The Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce Grand Prize was awarded to CEO Bae Jaetak of S&NC Co., Ltd.
Chairman Baekgu Lee shared entrepreneurs' opinions for making Gwangyang a business-friendly city through his keynote presentation titled "The Future of Gwangyang, Asking Entrepreneurs," emphasizing that “Gwangyang must become a city where people want to invest,” as it faces opportunities such as growth in the secondary battery industry and the resolution of Donghoan regulations.
He particularly stated, “We must develop proactive and bold policies and create a business-friendly local community atmosphere, resolving various conflicts and moving toward integration and harmony.”

During the subsequent secondary battery 'Opportunity Development Special Zone' selection performance, Gwangyang City’s New Industry and Chosunmi Section Chief gave a brief explanation about the Opportunity Development Special Zone and requested corporate cooperation for job creation, investment expansion, and regulatory relief efforts. All attendees participated in the performance, expressing their hopes for the selection of the Opportunity Development Special Zone, making it a meaningful occasion.
