Gwangju Fire Department Hosts 'National Youth 119 Safety News' Awards Ceremony
Target Jeonnam National University College of Education Affiliated High School & Dongsang Chosun University Girls' High School
The Gwangju Metropolitan Fire Safety Headquarters announced on the 3rd that it held the '16th National Youth 119 Safety News Video Contest Award Ceremony.'
This contest was organized to discover safety issues in daily life from the perspective of youth, create videos highlighting areas for improvement, and use them to spread safety culture as well as for educational and promotional content.
The Gwangju Fire Safety Headquarters selected two teams out of ten participants in the September contest to represent Gwangju in the national competition.
Among 38 teams representing regions nationwide, Jeonnam National University of Education High School, representing Gwangju, won the grand prize and received the Minister of Education Award, while Chosun University Girls' High School won the bronze prize and received the Korea Fire Industry Technology Institute Director Award.
Both teams produced videos reflecting the Itaewon incident, with Jeonnam National University of Education High School focusing on 'Safety Rules for Crowded Places' and Chosun University Girls' High School on 'How to Respond to Crush Accidents,' earning high praise for addressing recent accident response methods.

Kim Mun-yong, head of the Gwangju Fire Safety Headquarters, said, “We achieved good results by identifying timely social issues and producing videos from the creative perspectives of youth.
