"Today is the Day to Commute to School in the Village"... Eunpyeong-gu Youth Full-Day Program Operation
Full-day Program for Youth Attending Classes at Eunpyeong Youth Center Instead of School... 976 Students from 3 Local Middle Schools Operating Free Semester System Expected to Participate
Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that starting from the 2nd, the 2023 Eunpyeong Future Education District Project, ‘Eunpyeong Youth Full-day Village Commute,’ will be operated at the Eunpyeong Municipal Youth Center.
‘Eunpyeong Youth Full-day Village Commute’ is a program where youth attend a youth institution instead of school on designated days to take classes for a full day. It is linked with middle schools implementing the free semester system and consists of various experiential activities that break away from traditional subject classes.
In particular, through an agreement with the Eunpyeong Municipal Youth Center, cultural and sports lecture spaces used by adults are reconfigured as youth-only spaces. The program includes ▲survival swimming ▲creative experience programs ▲career experience programs, making use of the youth institution’s inherent characteristics, and the space will be arranged as a youth institution where youth are the main participants.
The participants are 976 students from three middle schools implementing the youth full-day free semester system: ▲Yeongnak Middle School ▲Soongsil Middle School ▲Chungam Middle School. Students can visit the Eunpyeong Municipal Youth Center on the full-day designated dates for their respective schools and grades.
To implement this youth full-day program, Eunpyeong-gu, schools, and the Eunpyeong Municipal Youth Center formed a consultative body to develop and support customized content reflecting the diverse needs of youth. This is expected to strengthen the regional governance capacity to nurture future society talents.
