On October 31, Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk, held the "13th Uljin Geumgangsong Protection Festival and Conservation Pledge Ceremony" at the Wangpicheon Culture Center within Wangpicheon Park to widely promote the excellence and brand value of Uljin Geumgangsong.
Hosted by Uljin-gun and organized by the Uljin Geumgangsong World Heritage Promotion Committee (Chairman Lim Young-su), this event was attended by over 400 members of the promotion committee and local residents to preserve Uljin Geumgangsong and widely publicize its excellence and brand value in order to pursue its registration as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System.
The first part of the event consisted of the protection ritual, Uljin Geumgangsong Salpuri performance, and the ritual offering; the second part included a progress report from the promotion committee; and the third part was the Geumgangsong conservation resolution meeting.
The Uljin Geumgangsong World Heritage Promotion Committee has been making efforts for over ten years to preserve the excellence of Geumgangsong through annual wildfire prevention, pine wilt disease prevention education, various seminars, publication of materials, and the Uljin Geumgangsong Protection Festival. They are striving to designate domestic tangible and intangible assets as Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems.
