Busan Premium Seafood Association Unveils Joint Brand 'Busan Blues'
The established Busan Premium Seafood Association has developed a joint brand called ‘Busan Blues (BUSAN BLUES).’
The Busan Premium Seafood Association was launched in 2005 to promote the safety and excellence of seafood produced and processed in the Busan region.
Although the association has participated in various activities such as domestic and international seafood food trade fairs, it has faced difficulties in attracting consumer interest in ‘premium seafood.’
Therefore, to change consumer perceptions of seafood, the association determined that a new and friendly joint brand conveying a fresh image of Busan’s seafood products was necessary, leading to the development of ‘Busan Blues (BUSAN BLUES).’
Busan Blues is a play on words combining the English word ‘BLUE,’ representing the clean seafood of Busan’s blue waters, and ‘BLUES,’ referring to the music genre.
Just as blues music has influenced various genres such as jazz and rock and roll, Busan Blues aspires to be the driving force that stirs up Busan’s blue spirit and leads Busan’s premium seafood to be recognized as internationally excellent seafood products.
The first mission of Busan Blues is ‘communication with consumers.’ The brand plans to consider what consumers want and what interests them, carrying out various activities beyond the category of ‘seafood.’
The brand established its direction by selecting ‘Tokyo Banana’ as a precedent. Tokyo Banana has become an essential souvenir not only in Tokyo but throughout Japan. Bread made with bananas, which are not grown in Tokyo, has become a representative souvenir of Tokyo.
Similarly, Busan Blues plans to expand and utilize the seafood category by developing and selling products in various categories such as bread and candy to attract widespread interest.
As part of its communication activities with consumers, Busan Blues will participate in the ‘2023 Busan International Seafood Trade Expo,’ held at BEXCO in Haeundae, Busan, until the 3rd, operating a Blues bar background photo zone and various events.
After participating in the 2023 Busan International Seafood Trade Expo, pop-up stores will be set up throughout the Busan area to stimulate curiosity about ‘Busan Blues.’
Park Yong-jun, CEO of Samjin Fish Cake and president of the Busan Premium Seafood Association since June last year, said, “I believe that organizations and groups should have an identity,” adding, “We plan to create the identity of the Busan Premium Seafood Association through Busan Blues and establish an operational direction to grow in line with the current era.”
The Busan Premium Seafood Association is an organization formed by member companies certified by Busan City for ‘Premium Seafood’ to jointly sell Busan premium seafood products.
The association consists of 16 member companies: Gijang Mulsan, Seokha, Deokhwa Food, Daekyung F&B, Samyang Seafood, Heechang Mulsan, Gijang Specialty Seafood Cooperative Corporation, Dongwon Haesarang, Bugwang F&G, Namgwang Food, Sehwa Seafood, Neulpureun Bada, Matdeulan Food, Busan Segwang Food, Samjin Food, and Amazing Factory.
