Everland to Host '2023 Game Culture Festival' Starting from the 3rd
Game Festival with Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korea Creative Content Agency until the 12th
Everland, operated by Samsung C&T Resort Division, announced on the 1st that it will hold the '2023 Game Culture Festival' for ten days from the 3rd to the 12th in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA).
The Game Culture Festival is designed as a festival where all generations can participate and communicate together through games, aiming to spread the cultural value of games and foster a healthy gaming culture.
This year’s Game Culture Festival theme is 'Hotami Exploration Team.' Following Hotami, the tiger explorer, participants become brave explorers who engage in various games and set out to find hidden treasures in Everland. The Hotami Exploration Team world is experienced through outdoor escape room challenges in three mission game zones: Aesop Village, Rocksville, and Raptor Ranger.
In the Global Fair area, promotional booths from domestic game companies such as Kakao Games, Smilegate, and Nimble Neuron are set up, offering various game experiences and customer events. The Elementary Computing Teachers Association booth also operates, presenting the educational effects of games through edu-games and brick experiences, while the Gen Z Global Academy provides career counseling and one-point lessons for children aspiring to become esports players.
Additionally, next to Kids Village, an Indie Game Zone is established where visitors can experience 17 games developed by KOCCA Game Talent Center graduates and this year’s Game Jam, as well as augmented reality games combining exercise and gaming, such as shuttle runs and burpee tests.
Next to Championship Rodeo, a retro-style arcade zone is available where visitors can relax while enjoying popular domestic and international games like 'StarCraft: Remastered' and 'Friends Popcorn,' and take commemorative photos at a photo studio themed around various game IPs and Hotami.
Special performances, esports tournaments, and customer participation events will also be held to celebrate the 2023 Game Culture Festival. On the opening day, the 3rd, at 5 p.m., an orchestra concert will take place at Everland’s Four Seasons Garden, where anyone can enjoy a one-hour live performance by a 30-piece orchestra playing OSTs from popular games such as 'KartRider: Drift' and 'Guardian Tales.' Additionally, on November 4th and 5th, a special stage at the Rose Garden will host esports tournaments and pro gamer fan sign events.
During the tournament, amateur preliminaries for Tekken 7 and League of Legends will be held consecutively up to the finals, allowing on-site spectators to watch. There will also be game events where visitors can participate on the spot, including matches against game developers. Event matches and fan sign sessions with popular pro gamers such as Jeondding, the 2023 Tekken World Tour champion, and Ambition, a League of Legends commentator, will be held, open to everyone.
During the festival, an SNS photo certification event will be conducted, where participants who upload photos taken on-site to Instagram with the required hashtags will be entered into a draw to win generous prizes such as PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and cultural gift certificates.
