Icheon City: "We Will Provide Supplies for 1st Grade Elementary Students"
Icheonnam and Sinhacho Selected for Next Year's Pilot Implementation
On the 1st, Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will pilot a project next year to provide learning supplies to first-grade elementary school students in the city.
The city explained that it decided to promote the pilot project to reduce the burden of learning supplies on parents and prevent shortages of supplies, thereby closing the educational gap among students.
The city will first conduct the pilot project targeting Icheon Nam Elementary School and Sinhwa Elementary School. Learning supplies will be provided after consultation on necessary items other than the learning materials supported by the Office of Education.
Kim Kyung-hee, mayor of Icheon, said, "This project was launched to ease the childcare burden on parents of lower-grade students," adding, "We will strive to make Icheon a city that is good for raising children."
