Mokpo Coast Guard Rescues Two Unconscious Men and Women Drowned After Vehicle Fall
Crash Near Geumno Port, Jindo-gun Waters
Mokpo Maritime Police Station (Chief Kim Hae-cheol) rescued two unconscious passengers from a vehicle that fell into the sea near Geumno Port, Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do.
According to Mokpo Maritime Police, at around 7:15 a.m. on the 1st, they received a report that a vehicle had fallen into the sea near Geumno Port, Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do, and dispatched rescue forces including the coastal rescue boat from the local police substation to the scene.
The maritime police arrived at the scene at approximately 7:38 a.m., 23 minutes after receiving the report. Rescue personnel entered the water and opened the rear door of the vehicle to rescue two unconscious passengers (one male and one female).
They then transported the two passengers to land, administered emergency treatment including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and handed them over to the 119 ambulance team.
A Mokpo Maritime Police official stated, “There is a high risk of vehicles falling into the sea on sloped roads,” and urged drivers to take special care to prevent accidents by, for example, engaging the side brake.
