If You Were Scammed, Jeon Reported on the 30th of Last Month
Claims to Have Lost Tens of Millions After Being Approached with a Marriage Proposal
A complaint alleging marriage fraud against Jeon Cheong-jo (27), who was known as the remarriage partner of former national fencing representative Nam Hyun-hee (42), has been additionally filed with the police. Jeon is suspected of approaching a man in his 30s with a proposal to marry and embezzling tens of millions of won.
According to the police on the 1st, a man in his 30s, Mr. A, filed a complaint against Jeon at the Jungbu Police Station in Seoul on the 30th of last month, accusing her of marriage fraud. The police summoned Mr. A the next day, the 31st, and completed the complainant investigation.
Jeon Cheong-jo, who was arrested on charges of fraud and attempted fraud at his mother's house in Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi Province, is being escorted to the Songpa Police Station in Seoul on the afternoon of the 31st of last month, with his face covered.

Mr. A claims that he met Jeon several months ago through a dating application (app). This period overlaps with the time when Jeon and Mr. Nam were dating. At that time, Jeon approached Mr. A with a proposal to marry, and subsequently, Jeon is reported to have received tens of millions of won from Mr. A.
In the profile photo, Jeon appeared with long hair, and Mr. A said he believed Jeon was a woman at that time. Mr. A, who had been in contact with Jeon until recently, claims that he became aware of his victimization after encountering suspicions related to Jeon through media reports.
Jeon was previously sentenced to 2 years and 3 months in prison in 2020 for approaching multiple people with marriage proposals and extorting tens of millions of won.
The Jungbu Police Station plans to transfer the case to the Songpa Police Station once the preliminary investigation is completed.
Earlier, Jeon was arrested by the police near a relative’s house in Gimpo City, Gyeonggi Province, on the 31st of last month on charges including fraud and attempted fraud. At that time, the court issued an arrest warrant for Jeon, citing "concerns that she might not comply with summons."
The police conducted search and seizure operations at Jeon’s known residence in the Jamsil-dong mixed-use complex in Songpa-gu and at her mother’s residence in Gimpo, securing related evidence.
Meanwhile, Jeon is also accused of visiting Mr. Nam’s mother’s house in Jungwon-gu, Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province, on the 26th of last month, knocking on the door and ringing the doorbell (charges of violation of the Stalking Punishment Act and trespassing). She is currently under investigation by the Seongnam Jungwon Police Station for this.
