Police Arrest Former Cheongjo Member on 'Fraud Suspicion' and Request Communication Warrant
The police have launched a forced investigation into fraud allegations against Jeon Cheong-jo, who broke up with former national fencing representative Nam Hyun-hee.
According to the police on the 31st, the Songpa Police Station in Seoul applied for an arrest warrant and a communication warrant for Jeon on charges of fraud and attempted fraud the day before.
Jeon claimed he was going to marry Nam, but suspicions arose regarding his prior fraud record, impersonation of a third-generation chaebol heir, and fraud allegations. On the 26th, a complaint was filed with the police accusing Jeon of embezzling 20 million won under the pretext of investing in application development. Prior to that, on the 25th, Kim Min-seok, a member of the Seoul Gangseo District Council, reported Jeon to the police on charges of fraud and attempted fraud based on a tip that Jeon induced loans. These cases are being jointly investigated by the Songpa Police Station.

Additionally, Jeon is also accused of repeatedly knocking on the door of Nam’s mother’s house in Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province, and assaulting Nam’s nephew. These cases are being investigated by the Seongnam Jungwon Police Station. At a regular press briefing the day before, Police Chief Yoon Hee-geun stated regarding the cases related to Jeon, "The National Investigation Headquarters will comprehensively assess the severity and conduct the investigation as swiftly and strictly as possible."
