The Honeybee Restaurant campaign delivers seeds of nectar plants (plants that provide honey and pollen), which serve as food for bees disappearing due to various causes including climate change, to citizens who participate in sponsorship with a certain amount.
Youn Yuh-jung, former owner of the variety show 'Youn's Kitchen,' serves delicious food to bees in the 'Honeybee Restaurant' campaign video released on YouTube that day.
The campaign video has attracted much attention since its release. The warm and comforting image of Youn Yuh-jung, known as the "Grandmother of Korea" recognized by the Academy, perfectly matches the concept of serving delicious food to honeybees.
Youn Yuh-jung said, "I was interested in the climate crisis issue even before receiving the offer to appear from Greenpeace," and added, "I hope that through this video, many people will join the long journey to protect bees and pollinators and to address climate change."

The annual value of plants pollinated by honeybees is estimated at 17.54 trillion KRW
Honeybees, important members of the ecosystem, are insects that pollinate pollen and help plants reproduce. Honeybees pollinate one-third of the plants cultivated by humans. Most fruits, vegetables, and grains consumed by humans require honeybees during their reproduction process.

The value of plants pollinated by honeybees is estimated at 17.54 trillion KRW annually. Additionally, honeybees are essential for maintaining healthy soil because they supply nitrogen and phosphates to the soil while transferring pollen. Honeybees are also known to play a crucial role in mitigating climate change by reducing carbon dioxide and increasing oxygen as they transfer pollen.
However, in recent years, reports of disappearing honeybees have continued. The main reason is that climate change has made it difficult for bees to survive. As the Earth's average temperature gradually rises, the flowering period has advanced, causing flowers to bloom and wither before bees awaken from hibernation, which critically affects the survival of bees that rely on these flowers as food.

Moreover, the number of bees dying due to pesticides, parasites, and other factors is increasing every year. This leads to a chain extinction of various plant species dependent on bees and severely impacts food production. Therefore, efforts to save honeybees are ongoing at both environmental organizations and national levels.
