The Third-Generation Management System of the Beom Samsung Family and Hansol Group
Jo Sung-min, Executive Director in charge of the eco-friendly business at Hansol Paper, was recently promoted to Vice President and Head of the Business Support Team at the holding company Hansol Holdings. Some speculate that this rapid promotion from Executive Director to Vice President signals the full-scale establishment of a third-generation management system.
According to Hansol Group on the 31st, Jo was recently promoted to Vice President. Hansol Group is a company separated and independent from Hansol Advisor Lee In-hee, the eldest daughter of Samsung founder Lee Byung-chul. The second-generation management has continued with Lee’s eldest son Jo Dong-hyuk serving as Chairman of Hansol Chemical, and his third son Jo Dong-gil leading Hansol Holdings.
Vice President Jo is the eldest son of Chairman Jo Dong-gil, making him the third-generation owner. Born in 1988, he graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Economics. After working at a hedge fund, he joined Hansol Holdings in 2016. In 2019, he moved to Hansol Paper to receive management training and was promoted to executive in 2021.
Jo Yeon-joo, Vice Chairwoman and eldest daughter of Chairman Jo Dong-hyuk, was born in 1979 and was promoted to Vice Chairwoman in 2020. Since then, she has demonstrated a strong presence through active management activities such as leading mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and participating on the boards of acquired companies.

Meanwhile, Lee Myung-gil, Head of Management Support at Hansol Paper, has been appointed as the new CEO of Hansol Holdings, the holding company of Hansol Group. The new CEO graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Business Administration and joined Hansol Group in 1993 as part of the second recruitment class. He has extensive experience in finance, human resources, and procurement. He is regarded as a financial expert, having served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Hansol Paper.
