Choi Ho-kwon, Yeongdeungpo District Mayor, stated, "A source of vitality and communication for seniors... We will continue to strengthen senior welfare."
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced on the 30th that it has opened ‘Insaeng 100 Ban’ in Dangsan 1-dong and will begin full-scale operations.
Insaeng 100 Ban is a market-type senior job project managed by the Yeongdeungpo Senior Club, an institution dedicated to senior employment. Seniors directly operate small-scale stores to generate income and also provide free meals to low-income seniors.
Insaeng 100 Ban employs 36 seniors aged 60 and over, working in teams of six, two to three times a week. Participants with Korean cuisine cooking certificates prepare and sell the food themselves.
Operating hours are Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The menu includes bibimbap, spicy pork set meals, doenjang jjigae, and mandu soup. A private-sector senior care policy offers a 1,000 won discount on all menu items for seniors aged 65 and older.
In particular, the district plans to link this with the ‘Donghaeng Restaurant’ meal support project for low-income seniors to reduce waiting lists and improve accessibility for users. Seniors aged 60 and over who wish to use Donghaeng Restaurant can enjoy a hearty meal at Insaeng 100 Ban.
Additionally, Insaeng 100 Ban provides a free delivery service for seniors with mobility difficulties. This also creates public interest-type senior jobs, where delivery participants check on seniors’ well-being and identify vulnerable groups in the community, thereby strengthening the social safety net.
Meanwhile, a ceremony was held on the 30th to celebrate the opening of Insaeng 100 Ban. The opening ceremony was attended by Yeongdeungpo District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon, the director of Yeongdeungpo Senior Club, and 10 senior job participants, and included ▲opening remarks ▲greetings ▲signboard unveiling ▲rice cake and cake cutting ▲commemorative photo session.
In addition, the district created 4,262 senior jobs this year, including senior cafes, elementary school meal helpers, low-income senior lunchbox delivery, and school zone traffic guidance.
