The Pohang Jungang Shopping District Night Market recently concluded successfully with many citizens visiting, and on the 27th, the Jungang Shopping District Merchants Association and night market food vendors donated 1.2 million won in proceeds to the Community Chest of Korea Gyeongbuk Social Welfare Community Chest.

This donation was voluntarily collected by the Jungang Shopping District Merchants Association and night market vendors, expressing gratitude and a spirit of coexistence for the night market serving as a great opportunity not only to revitalize the Jungang Shopping District but also for small business owners and prospective entrepreneurs this year.
At the donation ceremony, Jung Hee-cheol, president of the Jungang Shopping District Merchants Association, director Choi Si-hoon, and food vendor Hong Seong-ji attended to join forces in sharing.
Jung Hee-cheol, president of the Jungang Shopping District Merchants Association, said, “We thank Mayor of Pohang and related officials who worked hard for the night market to revitalize the Jungang Shopping District, and we hope the night market sales proceeds will be used for good causes.” He added, “We hope the Jungang Shopping District Night Market will be a signal flare that further activates the local alleyway commercial district.”
This year’s Jungang Shopping District Night Market concluded successfully, attracting an average of about 20,000 visitors weekly through unique events, various food offerings, and visitor convenience facilities.
Thanks to the success of the night market, not only food vendors but also existing merchants in the Jungang Shopping District saw sales increase by 20 to 30%, achieving results. Through this donation of proceeds, a meaningful conclusion was reached in revitalizing the local economy and giving back to society.
