'Iranian Teenage Girl in Brain Death After Hijab Dispute Dies'
A teenage girl in Iran who fell into a brain-dead state after a scuffle with the Guidance Patrol (Gasht-e Ershad) for not wearing a hijab has ultimately passed away.
According to major foreign media on the 28th (local time), Iran's state-run IRNA news agency reported that the Iranian girl Armita Garavand (16) died on the same day.
Garavand fell into a coma on the 1st while on the Tehran subway and had been receiving treatment until she was declared brain dead on the 22nd. Human rights organizations claim that physical violence was used during the crackdown. However, Iranian authorities deny the assault allegations.
