Young Couples in Suncheon City Receive 2 Million Won After Marriage
Married Couples Aged 49 or Younger Who Registered Their Marriage After January 1, 2022
Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced that it is providing newlywed couples with a marriage congratulatory gift of 2 million KRW to reduce the economic burden in the early stages of marriage for the younger generation and to support stable settlement in the region.
Eligibility requirements include couples under the age of 49 who have registered their marriage after January 1, 2022, with at least one spouse being a first-time bride or groom. Additionally, both spouses must have resided in the province for more than six months as of the application date, and at least one spouse must have an address in the relevant city or county to apply.
Applications can be submitted from six months after the marriage registration date up to twelve months, by visiting the administrative welfare center of the town, township, or neighborhood office with the required documents at the address registered on the resident registration.
The young couple marriage congratulatory gift support project has been in effect since 2021, benefiting a total of 2,087 households to date. This year, a total of 645 households have received benefits.
A Suncheon City official stated, “Through this project, we want to help many couples reduce the realistic burdens at the beginning of their marriage and support a stable start,” adding, “We will serve as an economic catalyst to create a city where young people want to live.”
