On the 25th, Gumi City in Gyeongbuk received the 'Grand Prize' and 'Excellence Award' in the field of proactive administration, as well as the 'Excellence Award' and 'Encouragement Award' in the innovation field at the '2023 Gyeongsangbuk-do Innovation and Proactive Administration Best Practices Competition' held in Gyeongju.

View original imageGyeongsangbuk-do received 35 innovation and 27 proactive administration best practice cases from the provincial government, city/counties, and public enterprises from August 4 to 8 to promote innovation and the culture of proactive administration in the public sector. After the first round of expert document screening, 10 cases per field were selected (the lower 5 received Encouragement Awards), and after presentation evaluations of the top 5 cases in each field, 1 Grand Prize, 2 Excellence Awards, and 2 Merit Awards were chosen.
In the innovation field, Kim Jeom-suk, team leader of Doryang-dong, who promoted flower gardening for the elderly, a 1-night 2-day forest experience school trip, and reminder events to solve the issues of care and solitary death among elderly living alone, received the 'Excellence Award.' Park Jin-beom, officer at Gumi Health Center, who established the Gumi-type 365 pediatric emergency medical system allowing treatment on weekends and nights, received the 'Encouragement Award.'
In the proactive administration field, competing with Pohang and Gyeongju, Jeong Mi-suk, officer of the Welfare Policy Division, who conveyed Gumi City's enthusiasm for proactive administration to judges and attendees through a distinctive presentation, received the 'Grand Prize,' and Lee Jeong-gil, officer of the Park and Greenery Division, received the 'Excellence Award.'
Officer Jeong received the honorable 'Grand Prize' by filming a video showing the necessity and justification for installing an elevator in a six-story, 600-unit permanent rental apartment without an elevator, highlighting the difficulty of carrying heavy loads up to the sixth floor.
Officer Lee received the 'Excellence Award' by presenting a case where a facility green space neglected for 42 years was reborn as a rest and healing space for residents, showing the transformed space through a drawing made by an employee, which drew high praise from attendees.
