"Jeon Cheong-jo Arrested on Stalking Charges, Facing Restraining Order... Married to Nam Hyun-hee Planned (Comprehensive)"
Jeon Cheong-jo, who revealed that he is scheduled to marry former national fencing representative Nam Hyun-hee and became embroiled in controversies including allegations of a prior fraud conviction, was arrested by the police on stalking charges.
The Seongnam Jungwon Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 26th that they are investigating Jeon for violating the Stalking Punishment Act and trespassing.
According to the police, Jeon is accused of repeatedly knocking on the door and ringing the doorbell at Nam’s mother’s house in Jungwon-gu, Seongnam City, at around 1:09 a.m. that day. When Jeon tried to enter the house saying, "I am someone you know, please let me in," Nam’s family called 112.
The responding police officers arrested Jeon in the act. It was reported that Jeon visited Nam’s mother’s house after receiving a breakup notice from Nam. After the family’s report, Jeon briefly left the scene but attempted to enter the house again while the police were taking statements from Nam’s family, resulting in an additional charge of trespassing.
The police released Jeon at around 6:20 a.m. after questioning him and plan to continue the investigation. To prevent Jeon’s stalking behavior, the police decided on an emergency protective measure prohibiting him from approaching within 100 meters of Nam and from contacting her via phone calls or text messages. Safety measures such as providing Nam with a smartwatch are also planned.
