9 Additional Cases of Lumpy Skin Disease Reported in Buan and Pyeongtaek... Total of 38 Confirmed So Far
The spread of Lumpy Skin Disease shows no signs of slowing down. Nine additional cases were reported yesterday in Buan, Jeonbuk; Ganghwa, Incheon; and Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi.
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for Lumpy Skin Disease on the 26th, as of 8 a.m., a total of 38 cases have been confirmed across 12 cities and counties. The total number of confirmed Hanwoo and dairy cattle is 2,694.
Lumpy Skin Disease first occurred on the 20th at a Hanwoo farm in Seosan, Chungnam, and increased to 38 cases within six days. After Chungnam, cases have been reported in Gyeonggi, Chungbuk, Gangwon, Incheon, and now Jeonnam. The Central Headquarters issued a temporary movement ban in Jeonbuk from 4 p.m. on the 25th to 4 p.m. on the 26th, lasting 24 hours.
The Central Headquarters plans to use 540,000 doses of pre-stocked vaccines to vaccinate farms within 20 km of the initial outbreak farm and farms within a 10 km quarantine zone of additional outbreak farms within five days from the time of occurrence. As of 8 a.m. the previous day, 217,000 out of 254,000 target cattle (86%) had been vaccinated.

To stabilize the outbreak situation, the Central Headquarters has decided to urgently import a total of 4 million doses of vaccine into the country by the 31st. First, 1.27 million doses will be imported on the 28th of this month, and the remaining 2.73 million doses will be imported by the 31st. Once the vaccines arrive, they will be rapidly distributed in the order of outbreak cities/counties → adjacent cities/counties → outbreak provinces → other provinces, with plans to complete vaccination of cattle farms nationwide by early November.
