<Gurye Pear, Vietnam Export Loading Ceremony Held>

High-Quality Pear Export of 17 Tons

Pears produced in Gurye, Jeollanam-do have been shipped for export.

Gurye-gun, which is actively promoting export encouragement policies to stabilize domestic agricultural product prices and increase farm income, held a loading ceremony for exporting Gurye pears to Vietnam on the 24th at the Gurye Nonghyup Agricultural Product Distribution Center (APC) together with the Gurye County Council, executives and employees of Gurye Nonghyup, and producing farmers.

At this event, 17 tons of 10kg pears were exported. Although this is about half compared to last year, it is meaningful as the export loading ceremony was held amid poor crop conditions caused by global abnormal weather this year.

Gurye-gun boasts a natural environment blessed by Jirisan Mountain and the Seomjin River, and due to the large temperature difference between day and night, high-quality pears with high sugar content and firmness are produced.

An official from the county stated, “The policy of improving cultivation skills through professional education and consulting, and developing new varieties preferred by consumers contributed to this export.”

County Governor Kim Soon-ho said, “The reputation of Gurye pears is increasing thanks to the passion of farmers and active support at the county level,” adding, “We will continue efforts to make Gurye pears better known and loved.”
