Creating a Scenic Area with Bright Lights Day and Night at Byeolbitnaericheon (Dorimcheon)... Extending Event Period from 1 to 2 Months to Revitalize Sillim Commercial District... Lighting Ceremony Starts November 1, with Weekend Performances, Experience Programs, and Discount Coupon Events
The ‘Byeolbit Sinsari’ commercial district in Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) is a representative commercial area of Gwanak-gu, densely packed with Sundae Town near exits 3 and 4 of Sillim Station, Shinwon Market, Seowon-dong shopping street, and Gwanak General Market.
Recently, the district designated this area as a commercial revitalization zone and is promoting the ‘Commercial Renaissance’ project, investing a total of 8 billion KRW over five years. This is to respond to changes in consumer consumption patterns and to secure competitiveness against large-scale distribution companies.
In addition, Gwanak-gu will hold the ‘3rd Gwanak Byeolbit Sanchaek’ from November 1 to January 7, 2024, for two months, to brilliantly decorate and invigorate the Sillim Station commercial district.
The district plans to captivate residents’ attention with various attractions and activities along approximately 200 meters of Byeolbitnaerimcheon (Dorimcheon) between Sillimgyo and Bongrimgyo bridges. Notably, this year the event period has been extended by one month compared to previous years to allow more residents to visit.
The district will implement the ‘3rd Gwanak Byeolbit Sanchaek’ as a differentiated ‘light festival’ shining in various colors regardless of day or night. Using the theme of ‘stars’ related to General Gang Gamchan, a representative historical figure of Gwanak-gu, dichroic sculptures, Milky Way bulbs, and LED landscaping will be installed to beautifully decorate the Byeolbit Sinsari commercial district.
On November 1 at 6:30 PM, a lighting ceremony will be held to mark the splendid start of the ‘3rd Gwanak Byeolbit Sanchaek.’ Mayor Park Junhee of Gwanak-gu and other guests will press a button together to brightly illuminate the entire landscape lighting.
The Gwanak Byeolbit Sanchaek will also feature the ‘Sinsari Commercial District Relay Event’ that captivates residents’ footsteps. Residents visiting the commercial district can enjoy various performance contents created by local young artists for free every Friday and Saturday. Additionally, every Saturday, experiential activities such as ▲caricature drawing and ▲handmade sea soap making will be available.
A ‘Commercial District Linked Coupon Event’ will also be held. Participants can receive a 10,000 KRW coupon usable at some stores within the commercial district on a first-come, first-served basis. Detailed information can be found through the Danggeun Market application’s Biz Profile or Gwanak-gu’s SNS accounts.
Mayor Park Junhee said, “We aim to provide diverse attractions and enjoyable activities in ‘Byeolbit Sinsari,’ Gwanak’s representative commercial district, to revitalize the tired daily lives of residents and local merchants,” adding, “We hope many residents visit, practice good consumption, and contribute to the revitalization of the local commercial district.”
