MS, Strong Cloud Sales... 13% Increase in Revenue Year-over-Year
Microsoft (MS) recorded earnings on the 24th (local time) that exceeded market expectations, marking the largest revenue growth in six quarters.
On the 24th (local time), MS announced that its third-quarter revenue reached $56.52 billion (76.1607 trillion KRW) with earnings per share of $2.99. Compared to the same period last year, revenue increased by 13%, and net income rose 27% to $22.29 billion.
Both revenue and net income surpassed Wall Street estimates compiled by market research firm LSEG (formerly Refinitiv), which projected $54.5 billion in revenue and $2.65 earnings per share.
Notably, the cloud business showed remarkable revenue growth. In the third quarter, Microsoft’s cloud segment generated $24.26 billion in revenue, exceeding market expectations ($23.49 billion) by 19%. In particular, the revenue from the cloud computing platform 'Azure,' a concrete indicator directly reflecting demand in the AI sector, increased by 29% compared to the same period last year.
Personal computing revenue reached $13.67 billion, surpassing market expectations ($12.85 billion) by 3%.
