On the 23rd, the 1st Meeting of the '2023 Dongdaemun-gu Resident Jury' Held to Review the Progress of Promises in the 8th Elected Administration... Over 40 Residents Randomly Selected by Region, Gender, and Age Thoroughly Inspect the 8th Elected Administration's Pledge Projects
Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Ilpyeong Lee) held the first meeting of the ‘Resident Jury Panel for Checking the Progress of the 8th Term Public Pledge Implementation’ on the 23rd at the Planning Situation Room on the 5th floor of the district office to conduct a fair and professional evaluation of the progress of public pledge projects promised to residents.
The resident jury panel, operated for the second time during the 8th term, was established so that residents can directly verify whether Dongdaemun-gu’s public pledge projects are being properly implemented and actively reflect the residents’ wishes in policies.
At the meeting, the following were conducted: ▲appointment of resident jurors ▲education on the Manifesto Movement and the resident jury ▲formation and discussion of five subcommittees, providing an opportunity to carefully listen to the diverse voices of residents regarding the pledges.
Dongdaemun-gu’s excellent efforts in implementing outstanding pledges have been recognized; in April, it received the ‘Highest Grade (SA)’ in the ‘2023 Manifesto National Basic Local Government Heads’ Pledge Implementation Plan and Information Disclosure Evaluation’ hosted by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters, and in July of the same year, it achieved the great success of winning the ‘Grand Prize’ in the ‘Job and Employment Improvement Category’ at the ‘2023 Manifesto Best Practice Competition.’
The Dongdaemun-gu resident jury panel will begin full-scale activities starting with the appointment of jurors on the 23rd, and through a total of three meetings by November, it will thoroughly evaluate the public pledge projects and derive improvement plans through substantive discussions and deliberations.
At the ‘2nd meeting’ scheduled for November 6, comprehensive explanations, Q&A sessions, and free discussions on pledge agenda items by subcommittees will take place, and at the final ‘3rd meeting’ on November 30, the final discussion on the evaluation results of pledge implementation by subcommittees will be conducted.
The district office plans to actively reflect the final recommendations derived through the operation of the resident jury panel in district administration and disclose them on the district website to strengthen communication with residents.
Mayor Ilpyeong Lee of Dongdaemun-gu stated, “We will do our best to promote public pledge projects so that the opinions of residents expressed at the resident jury meetings are well reflected in the pledge implementation plans and that residents can tangibly feel the visible achievements of the projects.”
