[One Day Walk] Line 5 Ujangsan Station Following the Trees
The subway walking course introduced this time is the Line 5 Ujangsan Station, where you walk along the trees. The Ujangsan Station course starts from Songhwa Market, passes through the Ujangsan forest path dense with Chinese hackberry trees, and ends at Balsan Station. Ujangsan is a forest path selected as one of Seoul's top 200 summer green walking trails, and an annual walking event is held there. It is well known as a gentle slope and tree-covered path ideal for a stroll, making it a great place to walk at least once.
About 50 meters from Exit 4 of Ujangsan Station, you will see Songhwa Market, a small market with about 100 stores. It is estimated to have been formed in the 1970s when residents sold agricultural products they grew themselves to earn living expenses. Dumplings, red fish cakes, and twisted doughnuts (kkwabaegi) are famous here.
After exploring the market, return toward Exit 3 of Ujangsan Station. The destination is Ujangsan. Walk straight along Uhyun-ro toward Ujangsan Station Intersection, and from the church next to the community center, continue straight. The distance is about 1 km.
The name Ujangsan originates from a legend that during the third rain ritual of the Joseon Dynasty, it always rained, so all participants wore rain-protective clothing (ujang) and climbed the mountain. Today, it is a mountain that forms the center of Gangseo-gu. On the southern peak, Wondangsan, there is a children's forest experience center, and the walking trail surrounding the outer edge of Ujangsan is made of urethane material, making it comfortable for families to walk together. The nature experience classes operated annually from April to October are also popular.
The next destination is Ujangsan Park, located just north of Ujangsan. It is a park where forest, sports, and art spaces harmoniously blend, loved by local residents. There is a jogging track, and prior reservation is required to use the soccer field and tennis courts.
Finally, when you arrive at Exit 5 of Balsan Station, today's course ends. From the park entrance, go straight toward Ujangsan-ro, then turn right, and you will see Balsan Station.
