US Navy "Intercepted Yemeni Rebel Missile... Possible Israel Target"
The U.S. Department of Defense announced on the 19th (local time) that a U.S. Navy destroyer in the Red Sea near Yemen shot down three missiles and drones launched by Yemeni rebels suspected of heading toward Israel.
Pat Ryder, spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Defense, stated that the U.S. Navy destroyer intercepted three ground-attack cruise missiles and drones launched by the Yemeni Houthi rebels that morning.
Spokesperson Ryder said that the missiles from Yemen were flying north along the Red Sea. He added that while the exact targets of the missiles were unknown, they were possibly aimed at targets inside Israel.
The Yemeni Houthi rebels, who receive hostile support from Iran toward Israel, control the Yemeni capital Sana'a, where on the 18th numerous protesters held demonstrations condemning Israel and supporting Palestine.
