The Korean American Studies Association International Conference to be Held at Kyung Hee University on the 20th-21st
The Korean Association of American Studies (President Seongho Lim, Professor of Political Science and International Relations at Kyung Hee University) will hold an international academic conference on the 20th and 21st at the First Law Building of Kyung Hee University in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul. The theme of this conference is 'Empathy & Moderation,' bringing together scholars studying the United States from all fields, including the humanities and social sciences, for a reflective forum.
The Korean Association of American Studies is an academic society founded in May 1965 with scholars in the humanities and social sciences as members. It was established to research and understand various fields such as American culture, history, society, politics, economy, and foreign relations. For over 60 years since its founding, it has led American studies research in Korea. In 2022, Professor Seongho Lim of Kyung Hee University's Department of Political Science and International Relations was inaugurated as president. Professors Junggun Seo and Sang-eung Ha of the same department at Kyung Hee University and Sogang University respectively serve as general directors, and Professor Jinwon Chae of Kyung Hee University's Public Governance Research Institute serves as administrative director. The editor-in-chief is Professor Junhyung Park of the Department of English Language and Literature at Pukyong National University.
The keynote speeches will be delivered by Seokin Hong, Public Diplomacy Ambassador of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea; Robert Post, Minister-Counselor of the U.S. Embassy in Korea; and Kazuhiro Maeshima, President of the Japanese Association of American Studies. These speakers from Korea, the U.S., and Japan play important practical and academic roles in the field of public diplomacy. Moonho Heo, CEO of YBM, and Dongsin Lee, Director of the Institute of American Studies at Seoul National University, are scheduled to give congratulatory remarks.
