Gokseong-gun Selected as Best Institution for Eco-Friendly Agricultural Materials Support Project
Best in National Local Government Agency Sector
Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) announced on the 19th that it was selected as the best institution nationwide in the local government agency category in the ‘2023 Eco-friendly Agricultural Materials Support Project Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
This evaluation reviewed factors such as soil environment suitability (organic matter content, pH), appropriate fertilizer use, supply and joint application performance of soil conditioners, budget execution efforts, fertilizer quality management efforts, and cooperation with local government policies.
Throughout 2023, Gokseong-gun supplied and supported 2,816 tons of soil conditioners and 16,575 tons of organic fertilizers to improve the soil environment and preserve the agricultural environment.
Additionally, to enhance soil fertility, it supported 32 tons of green manure crops such as hairy vetch and astragalus, 579 tons of organic agricultural materials, and 3,874 tons of topsoil for irrigation use.
Due to the county’s continuous support for eco-friendly agricultural materials, the certified area for eco-friendly agricultural products in Gokseong-gun accounts for 1,514 hectares, which is 40% of the rice cultivation area.
To this end, the necessary certification costs and eco-friendly agriculture incentives are supported, actively promoting eco-friendly agriculture centered on organic farming.
A county official stated, “We plan to continuously support eco-friendly agricultural materials so that farmers can produce high-quality agricultural products stably while protecting the environment. We will continue our efforts to establish a sustainable foundation for eco-friendly agriculture.”
