According to the hospital, the transitional season with large temperature differences is a time when musculoskeletal pain worsens in the elderly. This is because the muscles and ligaments around the spine and joints contract and lose flexibility due to the low temperatures. In fact, according to statistics from the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, the number of knee arthritis patients aged 60 and over, which was 549,625 in September last year, increased by about 30,000 in October to 577,366.
On that day, medical staff and employees from each hospital provided comprehensive Korean medicine medical services to about 230 elderly people who visited the clinics. First, spinal and joint diseases were diagnosed, and customized health consultations were conducted according to the patients. Then, full-scale Korean medicine treatments tailored to detailed symptoms were carried out. Along with herbal medicine to help recover energy during the transitional season, Korean medicine patches were also distributed.
Park Byung-mo, chairman of the Jaseng Medical Foundation, said, "We conducted this medical volunteer service in October, the month of seniors and filial piety, with the intention of caring for and comforting the health of the elderly." He added, "Jaseng Korean Medicine Hospitals and Jaseng Korean Medicine Clinics nationwide will continue to strive to create a social atmosphere where warm interest and consideration for the elderly are sustained."
