Ulsan Office of Education Strengthens On-site Support for Green Smart Future Schools
Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education is strengthening on-site support by sharing cases and information on the operation of Green Smart Future Schools from 2021 to 2023.
On the 17th and 19th of last month, Ulsan Office of Education held training programs for about 60 Green Smart Future School stakeholders at Park Sang-jin Hall of the Ulsan Education Research and Information Center.
On the 17th, a case-centered training was conducted for stakeholders of the 2023 Green Smart Future Schools, who are preparing for user-participatory design, and on the 19th, for stakeholders of the 2021-2022 Green Smart Future Schools, which are nearing completion.
This training was organized to enhance understanding of the Green Smart Future School project and to facilitate communication and sharing of current issues between schools and education office staff.
In the 2023 target school stakeholders network, Principal Choi Yeon-jin of Yongnam High School in Gyeongnam gave a lecture titled “Green Smart Future School Design Cases and School Roles,” discussing the design phase process and the roles of each party involved.
In the 2021-2022 target school stakeholders network, Teacher Kim Dong-hyung of Yongnam High School in Gyeongnam delivered a lecture titled “Green Smart Future School Construction Cases and School Roles,” focusing on the construction phase process and roles.
Following the training, attendees discussed information sharing, difficulties, and on-site support measures.
An official from Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education stated, “Through the operation of networks between the education office and school stakeholders, we will communicate with the field, listen to difficulties, and strive to create Green Smart Future Schools that the educational community dreams of together.”
Currently, the 2021-2022 Green Smart Future School target schools have completed pre-planning (establishing future school vision and key educational activities) and design (developing a master plan for school space restructuring), and are preparing for construction. The construction is planned to be completed by 2024.
For the 2021 target schools, Nam-mok Elementary School, Bangojin Elementary School, and Jujeon Elementary School will be rebuilt, while seven schools including Byeongyeong Elementary School, Taehwa Elementary School, Hyundai Cheongun Middle School, and Hwajin Middle School will be remodeled. For the 2022 target schools, seven schools including Cheongnyang Elementary School, Nongsu Middle School, and Cheongnyang Middle School will be rebuilt, while Hamwol Elementary School, Yaksajung Middle School, Hakseong Middle School, and Meari School will be remodeled.

The 2023 Green Smart Future School target schools are Gangnam Elementary School, Ulsan Jungang Elementary School, Hakseong Elementary School, Wolpyeong Middle School, and Ulsan Technical High School. They have completed pre-planning in 2023 and are preparing for design. Among these, Wolpyeong Middle School will be remodeled, and the other four schools will be rebuilt.
