Why Did Dongdaemun-gu Provide Drone Certification Training for Employees?
21 Employees Obtain 3 Types of National Drone Certifications to Promote Administrative Tasks Using Drones... Planned Drone Use in Various Fields Including District Promotion, Facility Safety Inspections, and Disaster Damage Assessment -
Twenty-one public officials from Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Ilpyeong Lee) have obtained three types of national certifications for ultra-light flying device unmanned multicopters (hereinafter drones) to promote efficient administrative work.
As the use of drones, a core technology of the 4th Industrial Revolution era, is increasing in work applications, the district selected employees last August to participate in the national drone certification course operated by the Unmanned Aviation Department of Baekseok University to build public sector data and improve administrative efficiency.
The drone training was conducted in two sessions, the first on September 4 and the second on October 11, as a 3-day, 2-night course at the Baekseok University Unmanned Aviation Center located in Cheonan, Chungnam Province.
On the first day of training, theoretical education was provided on ▲ aviation laws ▲ drone theory ▲ drone business trends and administrative work linkage plans. On the second and third days, practical training included ▲ education on how to respond to various risk situations ▲ simulated flights using the training simulator ‘Real Flight’ ▲ practical flights using three actual drones. Twenty-one employees who completed the training obtained three types of national drone operator certifications.
The certified employees are expected to utilize drones in various tasks such as wildfire prevention, safety inspections of aging buildings, festival safety management, and filming support, thereby enhancing administrative efficiency.
Kim Jongwon, a staff member of the Planning and Budget Division who participated in the training, said, “Through the process of directly experiencing drones and obtaining certification, I gained an understanding of drones and ways to link them to administrative work. I will actively apply what I learned in the training to contribute to creating a smart future city.”
Ilpyeong Lee, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “Taking this training as an opportunity, we will integrate drones into various administrative fields to improve the efficiency of administrative work and continuously strive to promote innovative administration in line with the 4th Industrial Revolution era.”
