Lotte Wellfood Launches 'Revival Retro Gum' Project... Re-releases 'Fresh Mint'
Lotte Wellfood (formerly Lotte Confectionery) announced on the 18th that it will launch the ‘Revival Retro Gum’ project, introducing ‘Lotte Freshmint’ as the first product.
Through this project, Lotte Gum, which has led the domestic gum market, reinterprets its heritage with a modern sensibility. Lotte Freshmint features packaging that reinterprets the design from its first release in 1972. It is expected to evoke nostalgia among consumers who remember that time, while providing a fresh feeling to younger consumers encountering retro gum for the first time. The company also explained that the quality has been enhanced by improving the formulation to make the refreshing mint flavor and unique sweetness last longer.
Starting with this Freshmint, Lotte Wellfood plans to improve the design and quality of ‘Juicy Fresh’ and ‘Spearmint’ as well. As of the third quarter of this year, Lotte Wellfood’s cumulative gum sales increased by about 30% compared to the same period last year. In particular, the bubble gum ‘Watta,’ which is popular among the younger generation, grew by more than 50% during the same period, and the ‘Drowsiness Alert Gum,’ useful for long-distance driving during outings and outdoor activities, surged by over 60%.
Lotte Wellfood is also conducting various gum marketing activities. Recently, it carried out marketing to increase the consumption touchpoints with the younger generation through collaboration with Peaches, a brand pursuing a new and creative car culture.
