A Woman in Her 50s Crossing the Road in Changwon Was Hit by a Car and Died
A woman in her 50s who was crossing the middle of the road in broad daylight was hit by a car and died.
According to Changwon Jungbu Police Station in Gyeongnam, at around 12:55 PM on the 16th, a passenger car driven by a woman in her 20s, Ms. A, struck Ms. B who was crossing the road on a three-lane road in Seongsan-gu, Changwon City.
Ms. A was driving straight from the intersection in front of the Industrial Bank toward the Central Sports Park intersection, while Ms. B was crossing from the left side of the road to the right side, not using a crosswalk.
Ms. B was taken to a nearby hospital immediately after the accident but ultimately passed away.
Ms. A was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident and reportedly stated that she did not see Ms. B suddenly emerging between cars.

The police have booked Ms. A on charges of causing death by negligence under the Special Act on Traffic Accident Handling and plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the accident based on the vehicle’s black box and nearby CCTV footage.
