Gyeongju City stated that this achievement was made possible through the voluntary participation of citizens, centered around the Pan-Citizen Promotion Committee for hosting the 2025 APEC Summit in Gyeongju, along with 21 cities and counties in Gyeongbuk Province, related organizations, and various groups.
Even with the cooperation of Gyeongbuk Province and its cities and counties, the fact that over 500,000 signatures were collected in just over a month in Gyeongju, a local city with a population of only 250,000, clearly shows how passionate the citizens are about hosting the APEC Summit.
Gyeongju City aims to surpass one million signatures early by operating an intensive signature campaign period through this month, and plans to submit the signature book to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Host City Selection Committee ahead of the APEC host city application scheduled for around December.
The one million signature campaign to attract the 2025 APEC Summit to Gyeongju will continue simultaneously online and offline targeting the entire nation until November.
The online signature campaign can be participated in via the signature campaign webpage and QR code recognition using smartphones, and social network service (SNS) participation events are also steadily ongoing. Offline signatures can be made using signature books available at city and county civil service offices and administrative welfare centers, and the signature book can be downloaded from the online signature campaign page.
