Haenam-gun Selected for Eco-Friendly Agriculture Infrastructure Project Competition
Establishment of Infrastructure Including Eco-Friendly Rice Cold Storage Facility at Gyegok Nonghyup
Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, has been selected for the 2024 Eco-friendly Agriculture Infrastructure Construction Project, securing a project budget of 900 million KRW.
According to the county on the 16th, the project recipient is Gyegok Nonghyup, which plans to support low-temperature storage facilities for eco-friendly rice and oats, specialized crops of Gyegok-myeon, along with farm consulting services.
The Eco-friendly Agriculture Infrastructure Construction Project supports facilities and equipment necessary for the production, processing, and distribution of eco-friendly agricultural products to farming corporations and cooperatives practicing eco-friendly agriculture.
Eligibility requires a project area of at least 20 hectares, with at least 50% of the project area certified as eco-friendly, and all members of the organization must pay the mandatory eco-friendly agricultural product self-support fund.
Participating farmers must fulfill exclusive shipment contracts with the project entity, which is responsible for selling the contracted quantities and continuously developing new markets to lead the transition of general farms to eco-friendly farming and support farm production management.
In the Gyegok-myeon area, a 300-hectare eco-friendly cultivation complex for rice and other crops is being established, and plans are underway to expand the complex to 500 hectares by enhancing distribution infrastructure for eco-friendly agricultural products.

A county official stated, “Expanding the production and processing of eco-friendly agricultural products within the jurisdiction is expected to greatly contribute to creating high added value and increasing the income of participating farmers,” adding, “We will do our best to expand the foundation of eco-friendly agriculture by establishing integrated complexes and securing stable sales channels through national government-funded projects.”
