[2023 National Audit] Oh Se-hoon: "We Will Do Our Best to Prevent Recurrence of the 'Itaewon Disaster'"
Opening Remarks at the National Assembly Public Administration and Security Committee's National Audit
Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, on the first anniversary of the Itaewon tragedy, stated, "We will prepare to prevent the recurrence of the same disaster."
On the 16th, during his opening remarks at the National Assembly Public Administration and Security Committee’s Seoul City audit held at Seoul City Hall, Mayor Oh said, "We will create a forum to discuss and evaluate with experts whether there are any issues with Seoul City's measures and safety precautions."

View original imageHe first introduced, "We have normalized and upgraded major projects that had been suspended for the past 10 years," adding, "We are implementing policies that bring vitality everywhere in Seoul and ensure no citizen is left behind."
He then emphasized realizing a safe city free from various disasters and crimes by strengthening safety measures. Regarding abnormal motive crimes, Mayor Oh said, "Through a comprehensive survey of crime-vulnerable areas, we will gradually expand intelligent closed-circuit television (CCTV) and crime prevention design to safety blind spots."
He also promised to conduct collection inspections and permanent origin checks on seafood and distributed food products in relation to the discharge of contaminated water from Fukushima, Japan.
Regarding the recently controversial Climate Companion Card project, he stated that he would seek a smooth agreement with related agencies. Mayor Oh said, "We will analyze citizen satisfaction and policy effectiveness," adding, "Through amicable consultations with Gyeonggi Province and Incheon City, we plan to fully launch the project in the second half of next year."
Mayor Oh reiterated his commitment to the 'Great Hangang Project.' Through this, the plan is to create a sustainable 'future emotional city' while simultaneously transforming Seoul into a global tourist city with 30 million foreign visitors, a per capita expenditure of 3 million KRW, a 7-day stay, and a 70% revisit rate.
