Gochang-gun Expands Childbirth Incentive Support... 20 Million Won for Fifth Child and Beyond

Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk Province announced on the 16th that it will significantly expand the childbirth incentive support to alleviate the economic burden on families with newborns.

Following the promulgation of the 'Partial Amendment to the Ordinance on Childbirth Incentive Support in Gochang-gun' on the 13th, the childbirth incentive amounts have been increased to ▲3 million KRW for the first child ▲5 million KRW for the second ▲7.5 million KRW for the third ▲10 million KRW for the fourth ▲and 20 million KRW for the fifth and subsequent children.

This childbirth incentive applies to babies born on or after the 13th.

Currently, Gochang-gun provides childbirth incentives of 1 million KRW for the first newborn, 2 million KRW for the second, 5 million KRW for the third, 7 million KRW for the fourth, and 10 million KRW for the fifth and subsequent children.

The county has been promoting the expansion of childbirth incentive support to ease the economic burden of childbirth and foster a social atmosphere that values childbirth.

Eligible recipients for the childbirth incentive are families where either the father or mother of the newborn has been continuously registered as a resident in Gochang-gun for more than one year as of the birth date. If the residency period is less than one year, eligibility begins from the day the one-year mark is reached.

Applications for the childbirth incentive can be made at the administrative welfare center of the resident registration district at the time of birth registration, and the payment will be made to the account within one month from the application date.

County Governor Shim Deok-seop stated, “Through the expansion of childbirth incentive support and various childbirth support policies, we will alleviate the parenting burden on parents and support the healthy growth of children, actively responding to overcome the low birthrate crisis.”
