"Critical Phase" US Secretary of State to Revisit Israel on the 16th
Israel Revisited Four Days After Completing Middle East Tour
Amid the war between Israel and the Palestinian armed faction Hamas, U.S. Secretary of State Tony Blinken, who visited the Middle East, will revisit Israel on the 16th (local time), the U.S. Department of State announced.
According to AFP, Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the State Department, told reporters in Cairo, Egypt, the first stop on Blinken's Middle East tour, on the 15th, "Secretary Blinken will return to Israel tomorrow for further consultations with Israeli leaders." Secretary Blinken was rushed to Israel on the 12th, where he met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and others, then traveled through Jordan and Saudi Arabia before arriving in Egypt on the 15th.
Blinken's return to Israel is analyzed to be due to the rapidly evolving situation on the ground. Israel, which was attacked by the Palestinian armed faction Hamas, is expected to soon launch a ground offensive against Hamas's stronghold in the Gaza Strip, raising growing concerns about the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza.
