Joint Inspection by Related Agencies from the 18th to 20th
The Gwangju Metropolitan City Urban Railway Construction Headquarters will conduct a joint safety inspection of the construction site for Phase 1 of Urban Railway Line 2 from the 18th to the 20th, together with related agencies.
This joint inspection is aimed at preventing similar accidents by learning from the recent (October 3) water pipe leakage accident at the Urban Railway Line 2 construction site.
Gwangju City plans to conduct a thorough inspection to prevent accidents related to underground buried facilities at construction sites that cause inconvenience and danger to citizens.
Additionally, to ensure effective inspections according to the types of underground buried facilities, the inspection will be conducted jointly with related agencies including the Waterworks Headquarters and Marine Energy Co., Ltd.
The inspection targets a 17 km section of the Phase 1 construction of Line 2, covering a total of seven construction sites including the Yuchon-dong vehicle depot and the main line sections 1 to 6 from City Hall to World Cup Stadium, Baegun Square, and Gwangju Station.
In particular, 1.46 km of exposed water pipes and 1.72 km of city gas pipelines within the construction sites will be intensively inspected.
The main inspection items include ▲ preventive measures against damage to water and sewage pipelines ▲ the condition of water and sewage pipeline hangers ▲ protective measures for city gas pipelines ▲ and the safety management status of the construction sites.
Minor hazards identified during the inspection will be immediately corrected on site, while serious hazards will be subject to urgent safety measures followed by detailed safety diagnostics, repairs, and reinforcement as follow-up actions.
