BGF Retail Resumes Volunteer Activities Painting Child Safety Murals
BGF Retail announced on the 15th that it conducted a volunteer activity of painting child safety murals under the theme of ‘Creating a Safe Route to and from School’ at Pyeongil Elementary School located in Sinpyeong-dong, Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do. This volunteer activity, resumed after a four-year hiatus due to COVID-19, involved BGF Retail employees and CU franchisees.

The volunteers painted murals on an approximately 45-meter section of the outer wall surrounding Pyeongil Elementary School, conveying the message that children can come to CU for help if they get lost or face other emergencies.
Since 2018, BGF Retail has been improving the surrounding environment by painting child safety murals on elementary school walls nationwide through volunteer activities, while also promoting CU’s missing child prevention program ‘iCU’ and the Child Safety Keeper House system.
CU operates the child disappearance prevention system ‘iCU’ in collaboration with the National Police Agency, utilizing the largest nationwide store network of about 17,000 locations to protect lost children (including dementia patients and individuals with developmental disabilities) and safely connect them to the police and their families.
Since its first introduction in 2017, iCU has played a significant role as a social safety net, helping a total of about 160 children and others safely return to their families.

We will continue to plan and execute various social contribution activities in cooperation with multiple institutions and public organizations to build public infrastructure in local communities.”
