Gang Involved in Staged Accidents with Luxury Imported Cars to Fraudulently Claim Insurance Money Sent to Prosecution
A group of 10 people who deliberately caused accidents with foreign cars to claim repair insurance money amounting to about 90 million won have been handed over to the prosecution.
On the 15th, Gwangju Nambu Police announced that they had sent 10 people, including insurance company employee A (39), to the prosecution without detention on charges of causing vehicle accidents intentionally and receiving insurance money (violation of the Special Act on the Prevention of Insurance Fraud).
They are accused of deliberately crashing into a specific foreign car six times in the downtown area of Gwangju from October last year to June this year, receiving 90 million won in repair costs from the insurance company.
According to the police investigation, it was found that employees working at the insurance company and their acquaintances conspired to park foreign cars in narrow parking lots or alleys, and the rest of the group deliberately crashed into the foreign cars to cause accidents.
It was also reported that they committed these crimes aiming to receive high unpaid repair costs of up to 20 million won from the insurance company in case of foreign car accidents.
