US Deploys Second Aircraft Carrier Strike Group to Support Israel, "Deterring War Escalation"
The United States has sent an additional aircraft carrier strike group to the Middle East to assist Israel, which was attacked by Hamas, and to deter the expansion of the war.
Lloyd Austin, U.S. Secretary of Defense, stated in a press release on the 14th (local time), "I have ordered the Dwight D. Eisenhower carrier strike group to begin moving to the Eastern Mediterranean."
Secretary Austin explained that the additional deployment of the carrier strike group is "part of efforts to deter hostile acts targeting Israel or attempts to expand this war following Hamas's attack on Israel."
He added, "The enhancement of U.S. military readiness demonstrates America's unwavering commitment to Israel's security and our determination to deter any state or non-state actors seeking to escalate this war."
