He gained momentum with consecutive birdies on holes 1 and 2 and ‘stepping stone birdies’ on holes 4 and 6. The bogey on hole 8 (par 3) was recovered with an eagle on hole 9 (par 5). Although a birdie on hole 10 was canceled out by a bogey on hole 11 (both par 4), he showed a fierce finishing kick with 4 birdies on holes 13, 15, 16, and 18. His putting average per hole was an outstanding 1.62. Rising to a tie for the lead by 1 stroke, he has a chance for his second win of the season and third career victory since winning this tournament last year.
