Grand Prize in Autonomous District Category on the 12th... Following Last Year's Best Award, Winning Two Consecutive Years; Top SNS Influence with 1st in Blog Neighbors and 2nd in Instagram Followers... Highly Praised Content Highlighting Channel Characteristics such as 'K-Pop Capital Songpa' and 'Songjalal Goes'
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) received the Grand Prize in the Basic Local Government District category at the 13th Korea SNS Awards held on the 12th.
Now in its 13th year, the 'Korea SNS Awards' comprehensively evaluates and awards public institutions, local governments, and companies nationwide that have excellently communicated with the public through high-quality social networking service (SNS) content. It is the most prestigious award in the SNS field in Korea, hosted by the Korea Social Content Promotion Association and sponsored by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
Among a total of 90 applicants in the public sector, Songpa-gu won the Grand Prize in the Basic Local Government District category. This achievement marks the second consecutive award following last year's Excellence Award.
In particular, the district received high praise for actively communicating with residents through unique content that highlights the characteristics of each SNS channel.
Representative examples include the ‘Capital of K-pop Songpa’ project promoting Songpa’s cultural potential with the sensibility of the MZ generation; the YouTube content ‘Songjalal-i Ganda’ encouraging the use of the Dream Tree Child Meal Card; and urban branding marketing using Songpa-gu’s character ‘Hahaha Hoho’ in Instagram photo shoots and reels.
The district currently operates six SNS channels including blogs, Instagram, and YouTube. Considering that it is the largest city among local governments with a population of 660,000, since the 8th local government administration, Songpa-gu has been expanding communication administration by providing not only prompt administrative information delivery but also creative and public-interest content and a sophisticated user environment to satisfy the diverse interests of residents.
As a result of these efforts, as of September, the district ranks first in the number of blog neighbors and second in Instagram followers among Seoul’s districts, demonstrating strong SNS influence.
In fact, upon the announcement of the ‘Korea SNS Awards’ contest, 1,622 Songpa-gu residents showed support by commenting on the strengths of Songpa-gu’s SNS. Comments included, “The content and events are so easy to understand at a glance that visiting Songpa-gu’s SNS is enjoyable,” “There are many contents alive with ‘Retro & Hip’ vibes that feel like both 1988 and 2023, which makes me visit more often,” and “There are many photos, shorts, and card news, so it’s easy to access information even during busy commuting hours.”
