Taiwan TSMC to Produce 6nm Semiconductors in Japan as Well
Taiwanese semiconductor company TSMC plans to produce semiconductors using a 6nm (nanometer, one billionth of a meter) process in Japan, Kyodo News reported on the 13th (local time).
According to the report, TSMC is currently planning to produce 12nm products and others at the factory being built in Kumamoto Prefecture, Kyushu, but the second factory to be additionally constructed is also planned to produce advanced 6nm products.
TSMC is considering building the second factory also in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, and the Japanese government is reportedly discussing subsidies of 900 billion yen (approximately 8 trillion won) for the second factory.

A source told Kyodo News that the introduction of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography equipment from Dutch semiconductor equipment company ASML is being considered for TSMC's second factory to produce advanced semiconductors.
