National Para Games Torch Relay in Goheung Carried Out by Drone

Gohung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced on the 12th that the torch relay for the 104th National Sports Festival and the 43rd National Para Games was grandly held with many residents participating in the section from Gohung Park Ji-sung Public Stadium to the Gohung-gun Office Plaza.

The torch for the National (Para) Sports Festival was lit on the 3rd at Manisan Mountain in Ganghwa-do and at Sunset Park in Mokpo North Port, and combined with the specially lit torch from Naro Space Center in Gohung and Haenam in September, it passed through 21 cities and counties in Jeollanam-do before being delivered to Mokpo Sports Complex on the 13th.

On that day, the torch was delivered to Gohung-gun via Suncheon, and many residents along the torch relay route enthusiastically cheered and encouraged the successful hosting of the National (Para) Sports Festival, raising the excitement for the event.

In particular, to promote Gohung as a drone-centered city nationwide, the torch relay continued using drones, and when the torch carried by the drone landed in front of the Gohung-gun Office Plaza, the attendees burst into enthusiastic applause.

The torch welcoming event held at the county office plaza was attended by many guests and residents who prayed together for the successful hosting of the National (Para) Sports Festival. After the torch performance by Gong Young-min, Governor of Gohung-gun, and Lee Jae-hak, Chairman of the Gohung-gun Council, the torch was sent to Boseong, concluding the event.

Governor Gong Young-min said in his congratulatory speech, “The special drone torch relay has become an opportunity to widely promote the status of Gohung as a drone-centered city.” He added, “Gohung-gun will also provide wholehearted support for the successful hosting of the National (Para) Sports Festival.”

Meanwhile, the Gohung Palyoung Gymnasium will host the National Sports Festival boxing competition from the 13th to the 18th, with more than 700 boxing athletes and officials participating, the largest ever, expected to serve as an opportunity to reestablish boxing as a popular sport.
